If you ever forget your password on Fedora, don’t panic. There is a simple way to reset it using the GRUB menu. Here are the steps you need to follow:
- Restart your computer and press Esc when you see the GRUB menu. You should see a list of boot options.
- Select the one that says “Fedora” and press e to edit it.
- Find the line that starts with linux and append the word rd.break at the end of it. Press Ctrl+x to boot with this option.
- You should see a prompt that says switch_root. Type mount -o remount,rw /sysroot to remount the root filesystem in read-write mode.
- Type chroot /sysroot to change the root directory to /sysroot.
- Type passwd to change your password. You will be asked to enter a new password twice.
- Type touch /.autorelabel to relabel the SELinux contexts.
- Type exit twice to exit the chroot environment and the switch_root prompt.
- Type reboot to restart your computer.
You should now be able to log in with your new password. Remember to keep it safe and secure!
